Hi there! My name is Zélia and I am currently a doctoral candidate in English at the University of Iceland. My research focuses on Walt Whitman and race in the age of cancel culture.
Revisiting Uncle Walt’s problematic statements regarding racial minorities and their role in American democracy and society has thus become my full-time job (at least for now).
My research is supported by the Icelandic Research Fund (Rannís), to whom I am deeply thankful.
In this blog, I also want to share thoughts and ideas about the myths that our society fosters (all part of my ongoing research work, by the way).
